Things happen for a reason sometimes. You can either choose to let your world crumble around you OR decide to create a new reality.
The dismal state of the US economy claimed another job – mine. My initial reaction was, “FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!” We immediately tightened up the purse strings and stopped extraneous spending. To our surprise, it was really easy to make sacrifices. Things that mattered a lot to us before lost their luster and attraction. After months of unsuccessful job hunting and panic starting to set in, we sat down and analyzed our situation. The daily grind of a 9-5 and typical American consumer lifestyle was no longer appealing. Surely, there is more to life than that? Luckily, we had always been really good at putting away funds and had a healthy nest egg already saved. With grim job prospects and a recession in full swing, we decided to go for it. Our departure date will be April 20, 2009.
Now, I have another full-time job. Bitches 🙂
